Firstly, the lack of frequent and reliable public transport has a tangible impact on mobility—particularly for young people, the elderly, and those without access to a car. A cycling track would serve as a practical and affordable means of travel to nearby towns, schools, and workplaces, helping to reduce social isolation and support local employment opportunities.
Secondly, encouraging cycling aligns with the Council’s broader goals of promoting sustainable transport and improving public health. A safe cycling route would reduce vehicle use, lower emissions, and encourage physical activity—contributing to cleaner air and a healthier community.
Additionally, such infrastructure could enhance the
attractiveness of the village for tourism and recreation. With
careful design, the track could integrate with existing green
spaces or trails, drawing visitors and promoting local businesses
such as cafes, shops, and accommodation providers.
