Any
urgent items at the discretion of the Chairperson pursuant to Section 100BA(6)(b) of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).
Minutes:
There
was one supplementary item presented to Council namely the Interim Recruitment
to the Head of Engineering and Transport for 12 months.
The
Director of Environment and Regeneration went on to inform Members of Council that
the service was currently undergoing a restructure thus why the post is being
advertised on a temporary basis. The post will then be advertised following the
restructure to the service area, and on a permanent basis. Members were told
the temporary post will be ring fenced to internal staff only.
Members
raised a query about the timeframe of when the temporary post would be filled.
The Director stated the turn around would be very quick. Interested applicants
would need to submit applications by no later than Wednesday 9th
April 2025 with a special appointments committee established for the 24th April 2025.
The
Director went on to assure members of service needs and stated existing
accountable managers would deal with queries and if they could not be resolved,
the Director would deal with them directly.
Members
asked if structures would remain in place in the interim period. The Director
confirmed Accountable Managers would continue to deal with their own service
area but also highlighted the forthcoming restructure of service areas within
the Directorate.
Resolved:
· That authorisation be given
to the Director of Environment and Regeneration and the Head of People and
Organisational Development to advertise the interim ‘acting up’ opportunity on
a restricted internal basis across the Environment Directorate with recruitment
and selection to be overseen by the Special Appointments Committee.
· That approval be given for
the salary to apply to post, in line with the NPT Head of Service Pay Grade
that ranges from £84,015 to £92,207 per annum.
· Delegated authority be
given to the special appointments committee to determine the starting salary to
be offered to the successful candidate within the parameters of the pay grade.
