Agenda

To obtain Members approval to advertise the Strategic School Improvement Programme and establish a new Welsh Medium Primary School at St John’s Terrace, Neath Abbey, Neath, SA10 7ND. To establish a temporary Governing Body for the new school and appoint three LA Governor Representatives to the temporary governing body

(a)  In line with Section 48 of the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013, Members determine to implement the proposal to establish a new Welsh –medium primary school at St John’s Terrace, Neath Abbey, Neath, SA10 7ND

(b)  The proposed date of implementation to be 1st January 2023.

(c)   That a temporary governing body for the proposed new 3-11 primary   

             school be established in line with the table above.

That the following appointments/procedures to populate the temporary governing body are agreed:

i)          Delegated authority to be granted to the Director of Education to appoint  

            parent governors.

ii)         One staff governor and one teacher governor to be appointed from existing

            NPT Welsh Schools.  Delegated authority to be granted to the Director of

            Education to make these appointments.

iii)         LA Governor Representatives will be appointed, by

           Cabinet, from the table above
