Minutes:

The minutes of the previous meeting held on the 5th December 2019 were agreed as an accurate record.

Pontardawe Cinema Verbal Update

Minutes:

The committee received a verbal update regarding Pontardawe Cinema.  It was highlighted that the tender document to appoint an architect has been released today for a second time.  Meetings are taking place with the Friends of Pontardawe Arts Centre and the Arts Council to update them on progress.  The completion or works and the opening of the new cinema was planned for the end of 2021.

 

Discussion took place on the timescale for closure and the financial impact on the arts centre during the refurbishment.  It was explained that until the architect had been appointment no firm details were available.

 

It was explained that discussions are currently taking place with Celtic Leisure and the Heritage Centre to ascertain what support they could provide to community activities being held within the arts centre that would be affected by the refurbishment.

 

Following scrutiny, it was agreed that the verbal update be noted.

Members received a presentation and report on the Local Authority Partnership Agreement 2019 – 20 (LAPA).  Previously, the document was the Authority’s Annual Strategic Funding Agreement with Sports Wales.  In 2020-21 Sports Wales rebranded the agreement to “Local Strategic Sports Plan.”

 

Following Scrutiny, it was agreed that the report be noted.

The committee received information on the Quarterly Performance Data 2019-2020 – Quarter 3 Performance (1st April 2019 – 31st December 2019) as detailed in the circulated report.

 

Members were content with the statistical information contained within the report an agreed there was no need for further scrutiny.

 

It was agreed that the report be noted.

Access to Meetings

Access to Meetings to resolve to exclude the public for the following item(s) pursuant to Section 100A(4) and (5) of the Local Government Act 1972 and the relevant exempt paragraphs of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the above Act.

The committee received a presentation and report on the Princess Royal Theatre, in both financial terms and the programme offered in 2019-2020 financial performance as detailed in the private circulated report.
