RESOLVED:

That the Minutes of the previous meeting held on the 17 June 2016 be confirmed as a true and accurate record of proceedings.

 

2.

Applications for Cremations pdf icon PDF 26 KB

Minutes:

Members received information regarding applications for cremations, for the period 1st April 2016 and 30th June 2016.

 

RESOLVED:

That the report be noted.

 

3.

Annual Return 2015/16 pdf icon PDF 763 KB

Minutes:

Members received an overview of the Margam Crematorium Joint Committee’s Annual Return 2015/16 as detailed in the circulated report.

 

RESOLVED:

1.      That the Wales Audit Office Margam Joint Committee Annual Report be noted;

 

2.      That the updated Annual Return be approved;

 

3.      That the Chair authorise the certification  section of the updated Annual Return to reflect the approval of the updated accounting statement and the Annual Governance Statement;

 

4.      That the Treasurer ensures that the final accounts are certified by the Wales Audit Office by the 30 September 2016;

 

5.      That the Annual Return be published onto the Council’s website by the 1 October 2016.

Minutes:

Members received an update of the completed and current building works as detailed in the circulated report.

 

It was noted that information is awaited in regard to the Wesley public address and sound system, once received and satisfactory an order will be issued and works should commence in January 2017.  Also, the majority of the works in regard to the canopy will take place off site to try to mitigate disruption.

 

RESOLVED:

That the report be noted.

Appointment of Medical Referee and Deputy Medical Referees pdf icon PDF 67 KB

Minutes:

Members were informed of the appointment of Dr. Jeffrey Williams Burridge as Medical Referee to Margam Crematorium by the Ministry of Justice, with the remaining partners, Dr.Violetta Magdon, Dr. Rebecca Ryell, and Dr. Shanthi Jambulingam at Mount Surgery, Taibach being appointed to Deputy Medical Referees.  Dr. Michael Howard Llewelyn will continue as a Deputy Medical Referee on a part-time basis as he has semi-retired from the surgery.

 

RESOLVED:

That the report be noted.

Minutes:

Members received an overview of the Amendments to the Cremation (England and Wales) Regulations 2008 as detailed in the circulated report.

7.

Urgent Items

Minutes:

Because of the need to deal with the matter contained in Minute No 8 below, the Chairman agreed that this could be raised at today’s meeting as an urgent item pursuant to Section 100B(4) (b) of the Local Government Act 1972.

 

Reason:

 

Due to the time element.

 

Cycle of Meetings

 

Members queried whether the meetings of the Margam Joint Crematorium Committee were scheduled at the correct timescale.  Officers explained that they were scheduled by timescales of the closure the accounts that had to be submitted to Wales Audit Office.

RESOLVED:

That pursuant to Section 100A(4) and (5) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded for the following items of business which involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 12 and 14 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the above Act.

Minutes:

Members received an overview of the Charges for Funerals conducted under Section 46 of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 as detailed in the private circulated report.

 

RESOLVED:

That the cost for funerals conducted under Section 46 of the Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 as contained within the private circulated report be approved.
