RESOLVED:

that pursuant to Section 100A(4) and (5) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded for the following item of business which involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 12 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the above Act.

Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licensing

Minutes:

The Committee was asked to consider a report in respect of a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s existing licence and determine the renewal application after hearing all submissions.

 

The Driver’s Solicitor and South Wales Police (Licensing) were present at the meeting and were given the opportunity to give their verbal accounts to the Committee.

 

The Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Solicitor read out four character references from the driver’s community, and requested that these be considered.

 

RESOLVED:      refusal to renew Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence under the provisions of Section 61(1)(a) Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, and to revoke Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence under the provisions of Section 61(1)(a) Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976.

 

The Licensing Authority did not consider the driver to be a fit and proper person.
