The following Member made a declaration of interest at the commencement of the meeting:

Minutes:

Members were provided with information in relation to licensing matters for the period 2015 – 2016.

 

RESOLVED:                                       that the report be noted.

Urgent Items

Minutes:

Because of the need to deal now with the matter contained in Minute No. 10 below, the Chairman agreed that this could be raised at today’s meeting as an Urgent Item pursuant to Section 100B (4) (b) of the Local Government Act 1972.

 

Reason:

 

Due to the applicants pending renewal application and expiration of his existing licence

Minutes:

RESOLVED:

that pursuant to Section 100A(4) and (5) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public be excluded for the following items of business which involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 12 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A to the above Act.

Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licensing - Case 1

Minutes:

Members were updated on the suspension of a hackney Carriage and a Private Hire Driver Licence.

 

The suspension was issued with immediate effect in the interest of public safety, as there were concerns about the medical fitness of the driver.

 

RESOLVED:                  that the report be noted

6.

Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licensing - Case 2

Minutes:

Members were updated on the suspension of a Hackney Carriage Driver licence.

 

The suspension was issued with immediate effect in the interests of public safety as the driver had suffered a heart attack.

 

RESOLVED:                  that the report be noted.

7.

Hackney Carriage Driver Licensing - Case 3

Minutes:

Members were informed of a revocation of a Hackney Carriage Driver licence following reports of inappropriate behaviour.

 

RESOLVED:                  that the report be noted

8.

Hackney Carriage Driver Licensing - Case 4

Minutes:

Members were informed of the revocation of a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence in the interest of public safety, following a conviction for a road traffic offence

 

RESOLVED:                  that the report be noted.

9.

Application for a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver licence

Minutes:

Members were asked to consider an application for the grant of a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence, where the applicant had incurred a driving conviction

 

The applicant was present at the meeting to disclose the details of the conviction.

 

RESOLVED:                  that the above application be approved, as the Committee was satisfied that the applicant was a fit and proper person to hold a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence.

 

 

 

 

10.

Urgent Report - Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licensing - Case 6

Minutes:

Members were asked to consider lifting the suspension and the renewal of a Hackney Carriage Driver Licence

The applicant attended the meeting.

 

RESOLVED:                  that the suspension imposed on the driver’s Hackney Carriage Driver Licence be lifted and the renewal application be approved.
